These are similar to Employee_Dim views, and are published in analogous security-related variants. The "Employee" security variant - in which a user can view rows pertaining to employees currently in the units (ORG_NODEs) s/he is authorized to report on - is used for most Salary History reports. This view differs from Employee_Dim views in that only a subset of rows - those germane to Salary History reports - are included. The included rows either:
contain a non-zero value in the CHANGE_AMT field (i.e., the row describes a change in compensation level); or,
are rows effective on the date a user specifies as the start of the reporting period (a.k.a. "base row"), irrespective of the value of CHANGE_AMT.
These views were created in order to simplify the queries embeded in Salary History reports, and thus improve response time for users of these reports.
